Maybe nissan realized that for the first 4 years of production (90,91,92,93) the timing belts on the NA really could last 100k without being changed, so they changed the intervals? Or that they did a little more R&D and found a way to help the belt last?

I'm not saying this is what happened, but nissan wouldn't just put out grossly incorrect manuals for their flagship vehicle. If NA's were blowing up at 90k for 3 years (94,95,96) due to snapped timing belts, you would think that we would have heard about it years ago.

So take your car into the dealer, have the timing belt inspected...if they say you should change it (asshole dealers will probably tell you to no matter what) then change it. If they say you're cool until 105k...take the representatives full name...and relax for another forty thousand miles.
